Why remote control?

Convenient but also safe

A wireless remote control is a safety and convenience-centric system for controlling a piece of machinery. One of its obvious benefits is that you don’t have to walk back and forth to the machine to operate it. It places the operator exactly where she needs to be instead of the natural constraints of a control panel or wired control. A wireless remote is also not in the operator’s way like a cable bound system would be. The cable is both impeding for the work and a safety hazard, a tripping hazard and also susceptible to damage and corrosion. To have a cable bound remote repaired in the middle of the work day could be both costly and time consuming, not to mention if it happens outside regular office hours. The cost of a production stand still should also be considered which in many cases might be a lot more than the repair costs.

Operational freedom with peace of mind

With industrial wireless remote control there is complete freedom of movement when operating a press, a wood shredder, a high-pressure pump or lifting and hoisting installations with the reassuring notion that the stop button is always within reach. A wireless remote control contributes substantially to limit the risks of the workplace. Tele Radio invests on several safety features. We do certify our systems to the highest industry standards to make sure everything keeps working under the harshest conditions.

Systems with the highest safety requirements are certified according to ISO 13849-1 CAT3 PLd / Ple SIL3 level for the STOP function. For these systems, in the receiver there are two stop relays that are monitored by two independent safety microprocessors both operating in parallel and cross-monitoring each other. In addition, these stop relays are normally connected in series in order to make sure you retain control of your machine. A single fault does not lead to the loss of the safety function, thus in case one of them fails, the machine will stop safely.

How remote control is actually safer than cable controls

Every machine and associated operation becomes unsafe in the event of improper use. But with correct use, a wireless remote control has many plus points over traditional cable control. In addition to the aforementioned advantages, our systems have various safety features such as the adjustable “donut” range. A specific work area can be set up for the transmitter in which the operation may function. For example, not in the immediate vicinity of the machine – where it is dangerous – but also not too far away where the user has insufficient visibility. With a wired solution such functionality is difficult, if not impossible, to realize.
In order to prevent that a machine is controlled by an unauthorized transmitter or that the signal is interrupted; our transmitters also use a unique key that is sent via its own software. The start-up procedure itself can be secured by a pin code and/or proximity detection.

Independent testing and certification

In 95% of cases, suppliers of machines and components appear to carry out the inspections for the mandatory safety markings and declarations by themselves. But to what extent the manufacturer has actually carried out the tests and analyses in accordance with the requirements remains unclear for the end user.
Tele Radio is aware of the fact that its transmitters and receivers are used in critical places. In order to guarantee the highest level of safety, the products are therefore independently inspected by a recognized inspection body. The certificates can always be shown in case you requested them. As a user you should be 100% sure of the safety of Tele Radio products!
