Custom software & hardware | Tele Radio
Global

A standard Tele Radio remote already covers a wide range of applications. But sometimes “almost right” is not good enough – a button layout needs to change, a function has to behave differently, a sensor or interface has to be added, a housing has to suit a specific machine. That is what our custom hardware and software service is for. Our engineering team adapts the product to your situation, not the other way around.

Learn more about customized software and hardware in this video:

From a quick software tweak to a deeper redesign

Custom projects span a wide spectrum, and where yours lands shapes the timeline, the investment, and the kind of conversation we have with you.

Software-only changes

The fastest and most common path. Adjusting how buttons map to outputs, changing default behavior, adding logic that suits your machine – work like this can move from idea to working firmware in a matter of days. The bulk of our custom projects sit here.

Hardware-only changes

Sometimes the product itself has to be modified: a different button layout, a different connector, an added sensor or display, a tailored housing. These projects take longer because there is mechanical and electronic design work involved, and validation rounds to make sure the result is robust in real use.

Combined hardware and software

Deeper projects touch both. Whenever we change hardware, we usually adjust the software around it so the experience for the operator stays clean. These projects produce the most distinctive results – a remote that is genuinely tailored to one customer’s application.

How we work

Every custom project, regardless of complexity, runs through the same approach. What changes is the number of validation rounds, not the rigor.

We start by understanding your application

A good custom remote starts with a clear picture of how it will be used: who operates it, in what environment, what it has to talk to, and what could go wrong. We prefer to engage closely with you up front rather than guess.

We propose a solution that is both cost-effective and problem-solving

Custom does not have to mean expensive. For many problems, a software-only change at minimal cost will do the job. Where deeper work is justified, we are transparent about what it involves – typically a one-time engineering setup cost (NRE) on top of the per-unit price – so you can weigh it against the volume and value of the project.

We validate before we ship

Custom projects go through validation rounds proportional to their complexity. By the time a product reaches you, it has been tested against the specification we agreed on at the start.

Is a custom project right for you?

A few questions that help frame the conversation:

– Is there one specific behavior of the standard remote you wish were different?

– Does the application need a button, sensor, connector, or interface that is not on the standard product?

– Are you producing enough units of your own product to justify a tailored variant?

– Are there safety, regulatory, or environmental requirements specific to your industry?

If you answered yes to any of these, it is worth a conversation. We will tell you honestly whether a software-only change does the job, whether deeper customization is justified, or whether a standard product already covers what you need.
