Enhancing Workplace Safety: The Crucial Role of Zero-Position Check on Industrial Remote Controls

Our remote control systems not only make work easier, but they also enhance safety, visibility, and operational flexibility. To further improve the safety of our products, many of our remote controls feature a so-called “zero position check.”
What exactly is a zero-position check, and how does it work?
Put simply, it’s a programmed control function designed to prevent unsafe work situations. All our Tele Radio radio remote controls with stop button include this feature. When the remote control is activated, the zero-position check verifies whether the buttons and/or switches are in a neutral position. If any button or switch is left out of their neutral positions, the remote control will indicate it and stay inactive until all buttons and switches are returned to their neutral positions.
The zero positioning check ensures that a button on a transmitter has not been accidentally pressed during startup or when reconnecting with the receiver. For example, let’s consider a glass suction cup that a glazier can use to install heavy glazing safely and accurately at great heights using strong suction cups. The suction cups should only be released by consciously pressing the designated button on the transmitter, and not because the button is accidentally still pressed during startup or when making contact with the receiver when one comes back within the receiver’s range. Otherwise, the pane could indeed be released and fall, with all the associated safety risks.
