We are oftentimes asked about the lifetime of batteries and temperature tolerance<\/strong> of our Tele Radio transmitters, especially in cold (subzero) temperatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Battery lifespan is not a set number of operating cycles. It varies based on multiple factors, such as battery quality, shelf life, average discharge, charging routine and of course ambient temperature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With that it is extremely difficult to provide a definite answer to the aged old battery life question. Quality batteries used in our (Tele Radio) Transmitters in ideal conditions are known to have an extremely long life<\/strong> span. This is becauses we design our equipment to operate on very low voltage draw. In other words: it’s able to continue to function on minimal battery capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our top-selling T19-2<\/a> lasts around 100 hours of continuous use<\/strong> using AAA Alkaline batteries and up to 130 hours<\/strong> using rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The low and high temperature range of our transmitters are always conservatively publicized, which is primarily based on the weakest component within our Transmitters\/Receivers. This doesn’t mean they cannot operate in much lower or higher temperatures. As Swedish Manufacturer, we have vast experience in operating equipment in extreme weather conditions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main concern though in subzero temperatures are batteries, as those will fail way before the electrical components and that is the case for any Transmitter regardless of manufacturer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cold weather is slowing down the chemical reactions that create the battery’s power. When it’s 0 degrees F (-18 degrees C) e.g., a fully charged battery has less than half its potential power. The cooler it gets, the greater the loss of power.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Heat makes batteries work harder. Extreme heat could lead to battery corrosion, whereas the active chemical leakage can then damage or disable the equipment that the batteries power. For this reason, we recommend removing the batteries from devices that will not be used for extended periods of time.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
